Dose schedule
Titration means changing a dose in planned steps. The schedule belongs to the exact medicine and formulation, with clinical review of response and tolerability. Dallas patients should have clear written directions rather than a dose ladder copied from someone else.
Why low first
Several GLP-1 medicines begin at a lower dose before progressing through specified steps. This approach reduces the risk of gastrointestinal reactions; it does not establish that nobody can notice an effect while starting. With Wegovy treatment, the injection and tablet have separate escalation schedules. A prescription should identify the formulation, current dose and timing of any planned change, rather than just the ingredient name.
Some injection schedules use four-week stages, while oral GLP-1 prescriptions have their own daily dosing and escalation instructions. Those schedules are not interchangeable. The prescriber considers the actual label, treatment purpose, symptoms and other medicines before deciding whether to continue, delay an increase or revise treatment. Do not compress several stages into a shorter period because appetite or weight has changed less than expected.
Report GLP-1 medication side effects before a planned increase, including problems that affect eating, drinking or ordinary activities. A dated plan is useful, but new symptoms or a treatment interruption may require further instructions. An increase should follow the current prescribing plan, and persistent difficulty is a reason for clinical assessment rather than a test of endurance.
How it runs
Long enough for the body to adapt and for the effect at that dose to be judged fairly.
Side effects, weight trend and how you are eating. The increase is a decision, not an automatic event on a calendar.
Staying at a dose for six or eight weeks is common and is not a setback. Pushing a dose that has not settled reliably makes things worse.
If the weight is coming off steadily at a middle dose, there is no reason to keep climbing. The highest dose is not the goal.
Maintenance
Maintenance refers to the ongoing regimen after initiation, but the permitted choices depend on the medicine and its indication. For example, Zepbound treatment has different labeled maintenance choices for weight management and obstructive sleep apnea. It is inaccurate to assume that every intermediate dose becomes a suitable long-term regimen simply because weight has fallen. The prescriber weighs the product information, response, tolerability and health goals. In physician-supervised weight loss care, that reasoning should be explained along with how the ongoing treatment will be reviewed.
Changes in supply or affordability also need a clinical conversation. The weight loss medication cost can depend on product, supply and payment terms; taking a different amount is not a reliable way to solve a billing problem. Contact the prescriber before an interruption when possible. If treatment has already stopped, explain the actual dates before using the previous regimen again. A plan for stopping GLP-1 medication should include whether restarting is appropriate and which current product instructions apply. This guide does not provide a personal restart or dose-conversion calculation.

Common questions
How formulation, treatment purpose, monitoring and other medicines affect a prescription.
Held at the same dose for eight weeks because it was working. No pressure to climb for the sake of it.
One increase was too much and they dropped me straight back. Two days later I was fine.
Settled well below the maximum and still losing steadily. Nobody tried to push me higher.
Every increase was a conversation rather than something that just happened on schedule.

The standard schedule is a starting point. How fast you move through it should depend on how you are actually doing.
