Month one
Clear instructions and a way to raise concerns matter from the first dose. During month one, Dallas patients can establish the prescribed routine and prepare for follow-up. Appetite, symptoms and weight may change at different times; the calendar is not a prediction.
Week by week
Before the first dose, confirm the medicine's name, formulation, strength and instructions with the prescribing team or pharmacist. The current GLP-1 medication options include daily tablets as well as weekly injections. Device training, food instructions and storage requirements depend on what was supplied. Record the actual start date, since a prescription date or delivery date may not reflect when treatment began.
During the following weeks, notice whether you can eat and drink adequately, manage your usual activities and follow the routine consistently. Appetite may change, but neither a particular sensation nor a weekly weight target is required to prove that you are doing treatment correctly. Common GLP-1 side effects deserve attention when they persist or interfere with everyday life.
Toward the planned review, bring questions about the medicine and any difficulties using it. The next step depends on the product, elapsed treatment time and clinical assessment; it is not automatically an increase during week four. GLP-1 dosing and titration explains why initiation and maintenance are different. Agree who will confirm the next prescription and what to do if the appointment or supply is delayed.
Getting it right
Do not wait for nausea to force it. Smaller meals from day one prevents most of the discomfort people describe.
Daily weight moves with fluid and salt and tells you almost nothing this early. Weekly gives you a trend you can act on.
When you eat much less, what you do eat has to carry more. Protein first protects muscle while the weight comes off.
Anything that is not settling should be raised before the dose steps up, not after. That is what the first review is for.
Common mistakes
An early problem is worth describing accurately rather than trying to solve it by changing several things at once. If meals have become difficult, ask for advice on nutrition during GLP-1 treatment that fits your symptoms and health needs. If tablet instructions conflict with another morning medicine, request a GLP-1 drug interaction review. Do not move, split or omit prescriptions based on a general online routine. A useful response identifies the actual problem and who is responsible for resolving it, rather than treating every difficulty as an expected adjustment.
Do not wait for the month-end appointment when symptoms are significant. Severe persistent abdominal pain needs immediate medical assessment and stopping the GLP-1 medicine; breathing difficulty, face or throat swelling, or collapse requires 911. The serious side effects guide explains further warning signs. For routine questions, physician-supervised weight loss care should specify the contact route and response arrangements. An unanswered message is not a reason to increase a dose independently or postpone urgent care. The first month's purpose includes establishing a workable plan for these situations.

Common questions
Getting started involves practical decisions as well as noticing your response to the medicine.
Three pounds in four weeks and I nearly gave up. Was told that was exactly on track, and by month three it was obvious they were right.
Appetite went well before the weight did. Knowing that was the order made the first weeks far less discouraging.
Told to stop weighing daily. Best advice of the whole month.
The four-week check caught that I was barely eating protein. Fixed before it became a problem.
